Apple Pay charged extra

I made an online purchase using Apple Pay but was charged an extra dollar. My total was $21.68 (as shown on the website and receipt I received afterwards) but was charged $22.68 through Apple Pay.

It was not a separate $1.00 credit card hold but the entire transaction. This seems peculia. Any idea what’s going on?
