My workplace is as quiet as a library, so I listen to my airpods on a pretty low volume. But if I receive a phone call, the alert announcing the call seems to be at full volume. It scares me half to death every time and hurts my ears. How do you turn down the airpod alert volume?

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and make sure that "Change with buttons" is on.
Then when a call comes in, use the volume buttons on the side of the phone to adjust the volume.
