Canon has not posted a compatible driver for macOS 10.13 High Sierra > https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/suppo rt-inkjet-printer/mx-series/pixma-mx340?subtab=downloads-drivers
It states: “There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."
This was my reply from Canon:
Thank you for your E-mail inquiry regarding the PIXMA MX340.
The MX340 is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.13.6 High Sierra. Therefore a driver will not be available.
Please keep in mind that the MX340 stopped selling in 2011.

Use Launchpad, Get Image, and select your Canon scanner from that list. Canon also claims that the MX series are compatible with Mac OS 10.13 and higher, and that the OS has the ability to access the scanner. Although their website states there is no drivers or software for your detected Mac OS, there are drivers offered. You can call their support line 1-800-652-2666.
