Unable to screen mirror to Apple TV from ios devices

Hello.

Today I purchased and set up a new Apple HomePod. All seems to work well.

Tonight, I tried to screen mirror my iPad and then my iPhone to my Apple TV 4. No luck. Sometimes it wouldn't even show up as a choice on my iPad or iPhone. However, the HomePod comes up as a selection.

When the AppleTV does show as a selection, I press it. I then get,

AirPlay - unable to connect to ”Apple TV” because the wireless signal is too weak.

The wifi signal is strong and I am on the same network.

I hope all this is clear. Any help is appreciated.

The signal shown on the device won’t account for issues. You would need a diagnostic report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. This will show accurate signal strength along with noise and nearby networks.

When attempting to mirror make sure no other activity is occuring (other streaming, web use, network backups etc)

Test on another network

It’s working just fine for the majority, another device working doesn’t rule out the network (rather intermittent issues do indicate that) and especially when it’s not even using the same protocol.

Hello.

Are these Apple TV apps you have mentioned? I will try your suggestion. However, we have never had issues with screen mirroring before. Would it just be a coincidence that we set up the HomePod yesterday also?

No, they are programs that run a diagnostic report on your computer, istumbler for Mac and netstumbler for PC. Issues can come at anytime

Have same issue intermittently between an iPhone and AppleTV.

It mirrored and connected in Safari & Chrome perfectly.

Disconnected mirroring in iOS then it started throwing that error.

After a while it started working again.

(1st gen) Chromecast Mirroring from Chrome works PERFECTLY which is another slap in the face for loyal long term Apple fans who gave up real plug & play long ago for catwalk designers style over substance.
