There was a Problem connecting to the Server. Is there a magic formula?

One of my machines does not allow access from the network. It shows up on all other machines, it looks the same, and I can connect to other machines, but never from other machines to this one. Each attempt ends with the message "Connection failed". I can try to write its entire IP-Address (smb of afp). But it never connects.

Thanks, Leroy. It did not help. The issue has lasted some months during which I used a turnaround to get my data in and out. The IP-Adress was correct, and the server would always show up on all other machines.

After introducing many steps recommended by different people in the forums, I was able to connect to the server as if nothing had happened. But I cannot specify what may have caused the change.

Since introducing Sierra, Apple seems to have changed some rules for the connections of servers. One of our machines did have ridiculous issues with one server, others not. They all disappeared after changing from smb to afp. Currently, we are not able to create a folder on other machines in the top level. So you go into another folder and create the new one there and pull it where it belongs to. Funny after having used all MACOS since 6.0.
