MacBook Pro 15” late 2011 not recognizing charger.

User uploaded file

My MacBook Pro 15” late 2011 is not recognizing my charger. We have replaced the charger, the battery indicator, the battery port, and the battery itself. We also reset the SMC, and the PRAM. We have tried different outlets, made sure we had the right wattage charger EVERYTHING. But it still won’t charge or recognize the charger. We even took it in to a computer repair shop, nothing seems to work! Any ideas as to why it is not charging? Pic 1 ^^^User uploaded file

The charger does however charge my other macbook Pro of the same year and everything. So it’s not the chargers problem. Pic 2 ^^^

I think in your case to jump start the charging you are just fine— a good report. Something seem a bit fishy. Maybe the battery connector was not securely seated (?)

I can add, Apple notebook computers buffer against voltage fluctuations by using the installed battery acting as a capacitor. It is not advisable to use your notebook without a working battery, because you are at risk having the voltage fluctuation damage components.

Surely the Apple store ran a diagnostic.

You can always try running the Diagnostic/AHT yourself http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509

However, not definitive by any means, but may kick out an error code.

Thanks for replying, i have tried that, and facing it all other directions, upside down, everything. But I did just find out something interesting! I took out the battery, and plugged in the computer (I’m not sure if your supposed to do this) and the indicator light turned green, so I tried putting in the battery while the computer was plugged in, and it started charging!! Although it was not a permanent fix, when I unplugged it and tried just plugging it in, it did not show anything. But it’s pretty cool that that got it working!

Here is my suggestion— try turning the L connector around. The cord will have to be untied, and now its tail will be laying along the port opening. Test in that configuration.

A 2011 old and enough to be wearing out the connections on the computer itself. Of course you can clean in there etc.
