LG Ultrawide monitor Compatibility

Hi


I currently have an Apple Thunderbolt display connected to my mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro (non retina)

and my wife has a Early 2016 Macbook.


I am going to upgrade my Macbook Pro sometime this year but until that time comes I am looking to replace my Thunderbolt display with an LG 38UC99 38-inch ultrawide monitor. The main reason for this is my wifes Macbook cant connect to the Thunderbolt display.

Please could anyone tell me if both these Macs are compatible with this LG monitor. I have looked around the web but can't seem to find a definitive answer, so any help would be really great.

According to the Tech Specs on the LG website for this monitor, it does support Mac compatibility. You'll want to contact LG directly to confirm if there are additional requirements for Mac. View Tech Specs for that specific monitor here:

The following support article provides some additional requirements to check for as well:

Specifically, follow the steps in this section:

Check your requirements

  • Check the ports on your Mac and see if you need an adapter.
  • Check how many displays your Mac supports: Choose Apple () menu > About This Mac > Support, then click Specifications. On the web page that appears, the number of displays your Mac supports appears under Video Support.
