I just picked it up a Virus on Safari ... Help

How do I remove a virus in Safari? I just picked it up while on Pinterest.

Safari is locked in a loop between two pages. One showing a page that says ... Warning. APPLE SECURITY BREACH!!!

IOS SECURITY CRASH!!! call: 1-844-387-0777 Apple Support (TOLL FREE)

Your Apple Device Has Been Locked Due to Security Reasons .... etc

And the other page is

"Safari" interrupted shut down. To continue shutting down. quit "Safari" Cancel Try Again

I could not force quit Safari. It is locked. I shut the computer down. After reopening the computer and launching Safari it was still locked with multi pages of the two above.

I am having to use Chrome for this inquiry.

I have macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6

Suggestions?

It's a scam. Force Quit Safari ( command + option + esc keys). Then restart Safari holding the Shift key. If you still have problems Empty Caches (Safari menu > Preferences > Privacy > Remove all website data. (This will also remove history if you do not want to remove History open Safari Preferences > Advanced and check mark “Show Develop Menu” then choose “Empty Caches” from Develop Menu ).

Then go to Safari Preferences > Extensions and check there. If there is an extension delete it.

If the problem persists then download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac.
