Will new itunes wipe old ipod info?

My hard drive on my old computer fried and I lost alot of unbacked up pictures. Lo and behold they were all still on my ipod from the last time I updated it. Now I have a new comp with a new iTunes download but Im afraid to hook up my ipod because Im afraid its going to clear all the info thats already on there and replace it with the new empty itunes info.
So Im just trying to find out before I hook it up if the new itunes will clear my full ipod?
TIA

If you auto sync your iPod, iTunes will replace what's on you iPod with what is currently on your iTunes library, which I assume now is nothing, so it will clear it of everything.

You can get your music off the iPod by using a 3rd party program (iTunes will only let you backup your purchased music off your iPod) but your photos are stored in your iPod in an "optimized for iPod" state. There might be a 3rd party program to pull those off as well, but even then, they would only be lo-resolution versions.
