where do I enter the verification code after logging into iCloud? I get the the six-digit code but have no place to enter it

You should receive a prompt to enter the code after signing in with your Apple ID and password.

I'm able to sign in and get this message below:
I get the 6-digit verification code on my iPhone and am left with this window on my iMac, with no place to enter the code. This is where I'm stuck. I'm running OSX 10.9.5. Could this be the problem?

If you see a password box, enter it as I posted above. If you don't see a password box, select another preference in System Preferences, then select System Preferences/iCloud again, enter your ID and in the password box, enter the password and code as I posted earlier.
If you see a password box, enter the password (ABC) followed by the code (123) or ABC123.
After I log into iCloud with my password i get the two step verification code on my iPhone. it is than that i have no box to enter both the password and the code
Are you able to get onto iCloud without going through the Two-Step Authentication process, or is it stopping you from logging in?
Yeah, it may just be that your devices Two Factor Authentication process is not compatible with the newer software on your other devices such as your iPhone.
