I have been upgrading to High Sierra. All was going well - did the steps where I gave my administrator password, then 2-step verification, and then it went into setting up the icloud account and has been "stuck" there for several hours. I already have an icloud account. What is it actually doing at this point, and how do I move on? I have few files in my icloud currently.
Hello harrison from sydney, I'm not worried about the files. But screen is essentially frozen. The window says "iCloud" and under that "Setting up Account..." and the wheel is spinning...and spinning.

It seems to have done the trick. That's what I was afraid to do last night for fear of interrupting something and making the situation worse. Restarting has brought everything up, looking just as it should. Thank you for the support and suggestions - very much appreciated!
you can try holding ddown the power button for about 5 sec and forcing a restart, this may restart the set up process.
If this doesnt work i would recommend going to the online apple support or taking the computer to an apple store bar and querying them
There is nothing else on the screen - no dock. Just a blurred high sierra picture in the background.
If your worried about loosing your files in iCloud, you can access them from essentially any computer (Just search up iCloud and sigh in and go to iCloud drive). Is the problem that the screen is frozen or that it isn't accepting our password.
