Once you've had two-factor authentication for more than two weeks, you cannot turn it off.

Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

Perhaps if you explain what problems you're having with it, someone can help you. What are you doing that you're interacting with it more than very rarely?

You don't need to back your phone up to iCloud to use FindMyiPhone. You don't need to install anything on your computer to use FMIP. Enable the feature on your phone. Should you need to search for your phone, log into www.iCloud.com from any computer. You don't even need 2FA to do it.

As far as Dell Mobile Connect, that's not an Apple product. I'd suggest you contact Dell.

You can't log in permanently to these forums. Apple won't let you because it's insufficiently secure.

Hello,

I am having the same issues it seems as Elijah and the users above. I’m wondering if the sarcasm in Gail’s replies have helped anyone reconcile their issues?

When I am attempting to access my movies previously purchased, I continue to get promoted to enter my iCloud/ITunes username and password. Once I have entered both, it proceeds to send me a notification that someone is trying to access a device at a certain location. (Which is me). I hit “allow”, in turn, a 6 digit code appears, which, the times it actually allows me to enter the code, I do. It then proceed to start ALL OVER, and ask for

my user name and password, send me a notification that someone is trying to access a device from a certain location (mine), I hit “allow”, a different 6 digit code appears, etc, etc, etc.....

You are following the steps correctly and what you are seeing is expected behaviour.

This suggests something else is happening.

Have you restarted the device? What iOS version are you using?

I’m having a similar issue. I have a multiple phone numbers on my trusted list however it would only go to one phone number. I was locked out of that account because of the same reason to factor. It’s taking me now for days to get into my account. What a nightmare. I really wish it would’ve given me the option to use one of my other trusted phone numbers. However, it wouldn’t, it was being a total Apple butt.

I had 2FA on for 3 days. Then, tried to turn it off, and it wouldn't turn off at all. No options. No buttons. Nothing. Now, it's way past that time frame.

Safe to say this isn't about security for Apple, but forces people to be roped and locked into multiple Apple products with no hope of ever getting out. They care zero about the user experience. It's only a matter of time before they alienate almost all their end-users and a competitor crushes them into oblivion. Apple is no longer creative, sadly. We have multiple Apple products within our family, and after this last fiasco (and the headphone jack), we're planning the exit strategy. It's too bad. : ( Not something I'd like to do.

I’ve been seeing people prognosticating the demise of Apple for products they introduce, aspects of their OS, services they provide, conditions on those services, etc, etc, etc for 3 decades now. Yet despite the self-perceived wisdom of those who post such statements here, in the all that time Apple has survived, thrived, grown and developed into one of the worlds most valued consumer electronics company and one of the worlds most successful corporations.

I get that you may not like 2FA, but your conspiracy theory is utterly unfounded in fact or reality, and your predictions of it are utter nonsense.

The whole point of choice in an open market economy is you can vote with your wallet and choose the product you wish to use. Translating your dissatisfaction of a company or product into the inherent demise of that company is utter nonsense.

TWO factor Verification will be the death of this company.

Highly doubtful.

When Jobs is not in charge the company it has to Crash that is the history

The man died almost 8 years ago. To refer to him in this context is in extremely poor taste, regardless of your frustration. Give your head a shake. This is the man who said of his customers... "You're holding it wrong"

MAKE IT WORK.. let me turn it off

These 2 things contradict each other. Which do you want?

As mentioned several times in this thread, the codes are never sent by SMS text by default (the default method is iCloud push notifications, which requires an Apple iCloud capable device). So your Pixel will only ever get a code if you indicate you did not receive one when trying to access your AppleID, and get one sent to your backup, SMS telephone number.

I hate this feature. Apple says that once you have verified a device you never have to do it again. That is a lie.

The amount of times I have been shut out of a device because I don't have another device to verify is unacceptable. Apple has really screwed this one up. Sure it may be a great idea, but it doesn't work. I guarantee if you let people turn it off 90% would dump it right away.

In a company that is as innovative as Apple, one would think they could figure this out. I won't be buying a new iphone for this reason. Time to move on.
