2018 MacBook Pro randomly losing WiFi connection

My month-old Mac has randomly started dropping my WiFi connection without any notification. One moment it's working fine, the next I'm offline. According to the WiFi dropdown in the menubar, my machine is behaving as if I had clicked to disconnect from the network; WiFi is on but not connected, all networks that should be in the list of nearby networks are there, and clicking on my network connects back up in under a second and I'm back to working again online... until it drops again anywhere from ten minutes to a few hours later.

This issue started almost immediately after installing "macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Supplemental Update 2 for MacBook Pro (2018)" from the Mac App Store and is affecting me on any WiFi network I connect to now if I'm connected long enough. It's usually just a minor inconvenience, but if it went down at just the wrong time it could cause serious issues with what I use it for. My 2011 MacBook Pro, also running macOS 10.13.6 but without the update specific to the 2018 model, doesn't have this issue... nor does any other device in the house, including a 2014 MacBook Pro, two 2007 MacBooks, and a 2009 iMac which are also all on the latest versions of macOS that they support. (Same for all the iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs in the home) It looks like this bug is reserved for those with the latest and greatest portable Macs, so I'm out of luck until a fix comes around.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this? I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the recent update; my Mac doesn't have a whole lot on it yet besides Apple apps and Adobe Creative Cloud software, and I don't browse anywhere or download anything from anywhere that could have given me anything unpleasant on my system. I basically treat this thing like a baby, so there seriously shouldn't be any issues with it already. My MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme are both on the latest software version they have available, and I've troubleshooted both devices.

So, after more analysis I found this issue only repeatable when I had ANYTHING plugged into USB-C

This hard to find article explains the problem. https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201163

If your USB device has a cable long enough that you can move the device, place it away from your Mac—and make sure not to place it behind your Mac, or near the hinge of its display. The antennas for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are located there, and USB 3 devices placed there might interfere with your wireless connections.

Some Genius decided to put the USB-C ports right next to the WiFi antenna. The noise for a in proximity USB-C device can cause the issues reports. Sounds like a significant design flaw IMHO. Fixed by using a non-apple USBC hub with a longer cable than the apple designed USBC dongle. Also have USBC extension cables on order.

Well, the previous listed solutions have not worked for me so far. I will try the deletion of all saved wifi connections except the one I use at home and see if the issue resolves.

Just to be clear of how my issue is presenting itself. I am connected to my home wifi and even though I still show a full wifi connection, my internet speed drops to nothing. My browser tells me I am not connected to the internet and the solution is to turn off my wifi adapter and then back on to restore the connection. I have no external devices or accessories connected. All my other wifi devices are connected and browsing with no issues while my MacBook Pro can not browse.

Will update once I test the latest offered solution of deleting all saved wifi connections.

Well I'm back...

Issue is still not resolved. I have tried everything I can think of and every solution offered but the issue persists causing me to think this is a hardware issue.

I have disconnected all external devices. Installed and ran Malwarebytes. Removed all wifi connections and added only my home back. Nothing has worked.

I thought the issue was gone because I was good for a few days but it is back. I am going to try turning off my bluetooth next and see if maybe there is an interference issue there. I'll report back once I see the results.

Randomly wifi dropping in this new Mac book pro 2018 is much frequently happening. It become very much hectic and tedious to work online with no wifi connectivity. Apple tech team should proceed to take actions on this frequent happening issue. Else newer macbook pro not the worth device to be bought .

If anybody has solution, let everyone know and resolve this bad issue.

This has started happening on my MBP 13 2108. Was fine for last 4 months and since a week or so ago the WiFi drops, if I'm lucky it reconnects if not then only a reboot fixes the issue, albeit so far only until next time. Along with the T2 Bridge OS issue which has plagued me since day 1 this is by far the worst Apple product I have owned.

Unreliable and incredibly frustrating to use.

Because I live on a tiny little rock I am stuffed in regards getting it replaced easily.

Very unhappy former Apple fan boy.

Hi there, just a quick update from me. After checking everything out, without Apple Support, I had to open a support ticket. Those WiFi-issues are kinda frustrating. But what's more frustrating ist, that they told me (at least the german support) that they don't have any information about WiFi-Problems in general with Mojave or the MacBook Pro 2018. So we're just "individual cases" 😕.

So, do you lose the Wi-Fi association (physical disconnect from Wi-Fi) or does Wi-Fi stay connected when network connectivity is lost?

If you experience it with the Time Capsule (2013?), you should keep pressure on Apple. In my case, they can blame Ubiquiti. In your case, they have to figure out the solution, as both devices are theirs.

It's a TimeCapsule from 2010, actually ^^. I lose the Wi-Fi association. Sometimes the symbol stays grey and I have to manually reconnect, sometimes it reconnects after a few seconds. Here's a screenshot of a day with massive connection losts. The second outage from the right was just hibernation.

Of course the could blame my old TimeCapsule. Apple Support already tried ^^. But I have losses on three different AP/Routers and the MacBook Pro 2018 is the only one from 7 Wi-Fi-Clients with connectivity issues on my network. So I'm pretty sure it's something with the MBPro 2018 Wi-Fi chip and Mojave.
