Messages/texts not recieved when iPhone is off/dead

I’m not sure that is normal, I always thought if a device was off the message then remained on Apple’s servers until you started the device again, after which the message got sent, that should be the case with iMessages, not sure with normal text.

If I’m correct (others may comment) then I would try signing out of Messages, restart device and then sign back in again.

When it is in airplane mode, or has no signal, messages appear once it has signal. Very frustrating as I have missed a couple important texts due to this.

Then don't turn off your phone but use this instead Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
