iPhone X won’t allow apps access to microphone

when apps want access to microphone, asks to go to settings, privacy, microphone, but there is never any apps asking for access there. Have ran all updates. Checked microphone for proper function. Have had this issue with all apps I have downloaded that would like mic access. There has to be a setting somewhere I am missing. Does anyone have any ideas?
