Is it possible to use Apple’s new project extensions with the iPhoto program? Is the iPhoto application going to be continued?

I prefer to use iPhoto instead of the newer Photos application. Up until now, it has been possible to create photo books with iPhoto and have them printed by Apple Print. However, as of September 30, 2018, Apple is discontinuing Apple Print, and instructions say to instead use Project Extensions with Photos. Does this mean iPhotos is being discontinued? Or am I able to use the Project Extensions with iPhotos as well as with Photos?

The extensions are in part just applications. All require Photos except PrestoPhoto which will work with both. The PrestoPhotos extension/app creates the book in Pages but can access both an iPhoto or Photos library for the pictures.

Yes, support was discontinued, but the iPhoto program was still functional. Frankly, I prefer the older program, as it is easier to manipulate, offers more theme choices, and makes it easy to share multiple photos through Mail. My question still is whether the iPhoto program will still be functional. Or do I need to hurry and transfer my iPhoto library of photos to Photos lest I lose them?
