Insert hyperlink in text shortcut

I see tons of replies how to create a shortcut to insert a hyperlink in mail.

I would like to know if I can create a keyboard text shortcut (e.g. "abc") CONTAINING a hyperlink, so I can

type "abc" in my mail and have that expanded to a text with the hyperlink as defined in my text shortcut...

Thanks,

Peter

I can get replacement text to automatically link in TextEdit in High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G65). The key is that in the Edit menu : Substitutions, you have the following selected:

User uploaded file

and an application that specifically supports these three selected items.

In System Preferences : Keyboard : Text, I have the following:

User uploaded file

and in TextEdit, when I type aapl:

User uploaded file

and then tapping the space bar deposits a plain text URL — until you type the next character, and the URL gains a hyperlink.

User uploaded file

Pages v7.1 won't allow this because it lacks the Substitutions -> Data Detectors entry, and despite the following Pages Preferences settings, what worked well in TextEdit only expands to plain text in Pages.

User uploaded file

Thanks... This is definitely getting closer, but not completely what I would like.

Suppose in mail I type “sig”, followed by a space bar, II would like that replaced by my signature containing a piece of text “my location” that actually is a link to a e.g. maps location. So in text shortcuts this “sig” has to be defined...(including the link - not a url...)

If this is what you are after, then why not use Signature.

and if that does not have enough formatting options then you can customize with HTML signatures

Create as many signatures as you want. Select none in options—this will allow you to include your custom sig from a drop down.
