iTunes v12.9.0 deleting whole podcast instead of just the episode

I suspect the lack of further library archives is down to me, I have software that autocleans and suspect it's got rid of a number of historic backup files. Will look at correcting that as it would have been useful to have a few older options on this occasion.

And yes, have given Apple my feedback directly too - although I'm not sure they'll listen there either ;-)

Same things happening to me, always wonder what will go wrong when I upgrade I-tunes. Feel like a beta customer. I like to keep my podcast library clean and delete any individual podcasts I listened to. No it deletes the everything under the Podcast title

TT2 - not readily. I'm away from home, and do the full backup quarterly, with partial backup of key docs more frequently. I'll put it down to annoyance factor more than anything and can't fathom why Apple a) needed to change a simple function like deletion, and b) choose this as the optimal way of doing it!

I'm not sure how to restore a backup, but I will look and see if that works as a temporary fix until Apple patches this.

Ah, it might be significant that I don't sync podcast settings owing to a previous disaster where iTunes deleted nearly all of my podcasts when that feature first came in.

Yup, I have the exact same complaint.

I am having exactly the same problem. No resolution from within iTunes.

Just to report it here too, even though this is the Windows iTunes forum the same problem exists on the Mac iTunes 12.9. Terrible.

Thank you. I do already back-up my entire documents, music, photos, etc. from time to time.

never heard of SyncToy, but the history I am having with updating itunes I will give it a try, thanks for the suggestion

I'm fairly sure this was an error not caught in testing. One would expect that keyboard delete and context menu delete would do the same thing.
