App store sends verification code to a wrong number

I recently changed my Apple ID password. I tried to download something from the app store, but it asked for the password first and then it asked to enter a verification code sent to my phone number. Even though I've updated my trusted phone number on the Apple ID account page and the old phone number is removed, the app store still sends the code to the old number! What do I do??
