Verizon eSIM
How do I get an eSIM from Verizon?
How do I get an eSIM from Verizon?
It did say you would need a QR code and Verizon was useless.
Be that as it may, it is their job to provision this for you. I see 3 unique options here.

I would like to be able to use the dual SIM functionality. My personal line is with Verizon and my work line is with AT&T. I was thinking I could do the eSIM thing with Verizon and pull the SIM card from my work phone and pop it in to the SIM slot and be all set. Does that sound reasonable?
I have read that and still don't understand. Since I am buying a new XS will it come with my Verizon eSIM already on it, or do I need to obtain a QR code somehow (which was basically my original question), or do I need to do something with the VZW app? Will the nano-SIM slot be empty? Sorry for my confusion. I'm just not getting the level of detail I need in anything I've read.
Well since Verizon would have to provide and you say they are useless I would say you have a problem. But then again the phone isn't even released yet so you might want to take a step back and let everyone catch up.
Verizon told me the same thing. The thing is: eSims are already used in the Apple Watches 3 & 4... so why wouldn’t it work in the XS? I was on the phone with Apple for a hour, and was told iOS 12 supports it.
The eSIM will not work the same way on the iPhone then it does on the Apple Watch. The Watch uses NumberSync and shares the same phone number as your iPhone.
During the keynote Apple executives said that support would be available in a later update.
I spent a few hours on the phone with both Verizon and Apple. I have the iOS 12.1 beta and the functionality is there. Issue is, Verizon does not have the coding in their system to add the digital SIM IMEI number to an account on their side yet. When speaking with Apple, they did confirm that the eSIM functionality will not work right now with the iOS 12.1 beta, but will when the official 12.1 release is out. Looks like we will all have to wait until later this fall for that. Once Verizon is given the green light, you will be able to call in and provide you digital SIM IMEI number and they can activate the eSIM on your line. Not too sure about the QR code, I think it will come with the phone packaging on devices that are released with 12.1 already on it.
I am in the same situation, have the XS with an AT&T SIM card installed and now would like to activate my Verizon phone on this phone to take full advantage of the dual sim capability. So I guess I will re ask the question. "How do I get Verizon to provide me with a qr code?"
It appears more than boardroom pressure may be required. I’m seeing reports suggesting Verizon can’t make eSIM work to an acceptable standard. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/10/31/18047890/iphone-dual-sim-supp ort-esim-tmobile-att-verizon-not-ready-i… and links in the article. I noticed one opinion suggest that VZ may delay rollout until we’ll after New Year, which hints at either a hardware update program or a shedload of software has to be upgraded somewhere in the system. They are of course blaming Apple, which seems illogical as other networks around the world are not reporting issues yet.
you buy an iPhone Xs or Xs max locked to Verizon.
You don't "get" an eSIM, it is hardware in the phone and is activated by the cell provider. You can get a physical SIM from Verizon.
You don't. You get it from Apple, already integrated into your shiny new iPhone XS. It's part of the hardware.
Will it come with a physical SIM from Verizon as well?
Maybe you can explain why you want a physical sim.
