Did it say you will need a QR code in that article? Did Verizon suggest how you get it when you talked to them?

Verizon informed me today that eSIM capability will become available with iOS 12.1 later this Fall.

I don't believe any of the big four are currently supporting the Apple dual SIM with eSIM phones. You could buy the majority stake in Verizon and then force the CEO to do so.
