Can't Update to Safari 12.0 in High Sierra

I cannot update to Safari 12.0 (currently 11.1.2) in High Sierra 10.13.6 because of the following message:

"Safari.app" cannot be updated because its extensions are in use by "Spotlight.app". Click OK and quit the application."

I quit Safari and tried again, but I keep getting the same message. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem. What was strange is that I have no Safari extensions. So, I logged out and logged back in again, and the update proceeded normally. Hope this helps.
