Walkie Talkie Invitations Aren't Working

I have updated both my iPhone X and Apple Watch Series 3 to iOS 12.
I do have FaceTime setup.

I tried sending an invitation to another person with an Apple Watch Series 2 (updated) and I receive an error saying that I can only send invitations to people who are compatible. Thing is, he is.

When he would send an invitation to me I don't receive it. It shows on his Apple Watch that the invitation is pending.

I have toggled off/on Wifi, Airplane Mode, and Cellular on my Apple Watch. I have restarted both iPhone X and Apple Watch. Still having the same problem. I have also made a FaceTime call to him to make sure that there's no problem with that since Walkie Talkie seems to be working off of FaceTime Audio.

Anyway, I know that iOS 12 was just released so I do expect some bugs to be present. If anyone knows a fix, I'd appreciate it.

Update:

My problem has been resolved. This is what worked for me. I unpaired my Apple Watch with my iPhone and re-paired it. When Syncing, I chose to set up as a new Apple Watch (not sure if it matters if you restore from backup or not, but I chose to be safe and start with clean slate). Now it's working. Just to be clear, I am talking about unpairing and re-pairing my Apple Watch to my iPhone, NOT restoring my iPhone.

Hope this helps anyone else who may have my same issue. Good luck!

Working with apple support through Chat, this is what worked for me -

iPhone 8+

AW 3 w/ LTE

That may be an issue on the iPhone actually. What I’d suggest is to unpair the watch again, then go into your iPhone settings and sign out of your account for iCloud. Then go to Settings>safari on the iPhone and clear the history and website data, then go to Settings>general>reset and choose “reset network settings”. That will restart the iPhone and clear out any errors it stored with the servers that allow this enrollment. After that, you’ll manually reconnect to wi-fi, re-pair with the watch, and can try again

Once I did this, Walkie Talkie invitations and functionality worked straight away

Before taking that step, I would recommend just waiting about 24 hours. That solved my problem. I didn't re-pair my watch or anything (this feature isn't worth the hassle of re-pairing the watch). Odds are, those who have re-paired or set up the watch as new, just wasted a step. If it still doesn't work in a day or two, then go for it, but give it s chance to solve itself first.
