Seems to be longer than 24 hours if that is the case.

Now my third day on ios12 and my 6s is still shockingly bad on power use. Unplugged it to drive to work and 11 minutes later with no use it is down to 95%. Just sitting on my desk it is flat within a few hours, quicker if I receive a call. Now have to carry the charger with me and plug in at every opportunity.

I just want to chime in to say me too. I've had iOS 12 on my iPhone 6s Plus for several weeks now and my battery life is approximately half of what it was before the update. My battery health is at 88%. I've reset my device and restored from backup. I haven't changed how I use my phone at all. There is definitely a problem with iOS 12.

Me too. Iphone 6s Battery at 89% was perfectly fine on ios10.3.3 and lasting almost 2 days sometimes. Now after one week on ios 12 my iphone don’t last a full day and is acting herratic. It stays to a certain % for 30min then drops 15% in 2 minutes, or sometimes just drops randomly 15% in 10 min whle reading articles on internet (as right now). This is really frustrating and I am thinking of going to pixel phone or samsung for my next phone because my phone is only 1 year and 1 month old (wow big coincidence as I am now not covered by apple care)...

I did a clean install of ios12 and nothing changed. I will attempt one last thing which is changing the battery (in theory not necessary as it is at 89%). After that if nothing changes I will sell this phone for almost nothing because it is now worth nothing (so lose almost 1k$), and buy another brand.

I will keep you updated at the end of noveber so you can know if changing the battery works or not.

Good luck everyone!

I have a brand new 6s and a 6mth old regular 6. (Work phone). Both updated to ios12. And right off the bat I found a significant battery drain. I let it go for a few weeks to let the batteries “learn” or whatever. But it’s been over a month and they start 100% at 7am and with regular use they’re down to 20% by 4pm. Sometimes lower if I get phone calls

I changed my battery. I've been using my 6s Plus without battery saver, on wi-fi, all apps running in background, location services turned on... Just abusing it, Battery lasts me like before. I can barely get it under 20% in one day of intense usage. If there was a software issue, it is fixed with this very last update (I also updated to 12.1). I would recommend you all to change the battery if the "Battery health" is below 80%.

I updated to ios12.1 and nothing changed, in fact the time my battery drained from 30% to 1% in line 15 min was on ios 12.1.

So I think my last resort is to change my battery (which is at 89% health).

I have hope it will help if it did the trick for you!

Thanks for letting us know, I will update when my battery is changed.

iOS 12.1 didn't help me either. I wouldn't rush to change the battery (unless it's free). Mine is pretty new, it's at 95% and it doesn't help. The only thing that helps somewhat is to completely close as many apps as possible (even though I have turned off Background App refresh, and have minimal authorizations for location services).

I am wondering if completely wiping out the iphone (DFU restore) and then not restoring a backup but setting the phone as « new iphone » and then reinstall every app would help. Maybe something in the backup is messing with ios12??

Did someone try this?

I also think that replacing my battery will not help because it is at 89% which is good. But for 40$ I am willing to try. But if it does not help, il will be the last $$ I spend in an apple store.

My battery claimed 93% health, but went from full charge to empty within 30 min. That started one week before iOS 12, and software update didn’t change it.

Got a new battery from Apple without touching anything else. Now the iPhone 6S after a long day of usage is still at 60% charge. Latest iOS 12.

I strongly recommend getting a new battery, while Apple is still offering them this year for little money.

I'm having excess battery drain in my XS after updating to IOS 12.1. The device can lose 50% battery and burn through 85%of my telco carrier data allowance in less than four hours without the phone being touched. I see a similar thread on here for IOS 11.3 update and some iPhones expending a significant amount of battery power on the Photos app. Mine shows this too, only I've hardly used the photo app. Whatever the phone is doing all by itself, without me changing a single setting whatsoever, is continuing to do it when I'm not connected to wi-fi and is chewing through my external data allowance, at significant cost to me. Between the wi-fi and telco reception problems, the unreliable charging factor and now this, the iPhone XS is the WORST iPhone I've ever purchased from Apple. And I've had an iPhone since the second model. I'm ready to return this phone and skip over Apple altogether because of all the frustration I've experienced with recent Apple devices and software updates. It's just one ****** problem after another, and right now, problems on top of existing problems. FIX IT ALREADY. I need multiple resolutions right now. There's only so much one can take of having to continually revert to an older model iPhone, just to have the functionality I paid an excessive price for, for this bug filled iPhone.

Anyone else experiencing this latest frustration?

I feel your pain !

My phone 6S is one year and one month old ant the battery is acting crazy (just after my apple warranty finished..).
I just wish I had the chance to still return it or change the phone.. Even if the 6S is not from 2018, I purchased it new from apple so it should not be the end of the phone after one year...
I wish you luck!

Hello,

Hopefully this thread will get a fix soon. I’m going to share my expereince as I think it will be the nail in the coffin on doubt for most all of us.

I am on iPhone 6s and updated to iOS 12 and experienced the same drastic battery decline as all of you.

I went to the Apple store and got the battery replaced for a small fee (less than £30) and it took 24 hours before getting my phone back.

With my new battery I noticed and increase in battery performance from before BUT still a drastic difference from how it operated on iOS 11. I contacted support and they pretty much confirmed there was nothing they could do. That there is ‘no magic wand’ to fix such an issue (their wording not mine)

As a last ditch effort I backed up and restored my phone. No noticeable change.

Bare in mind my usage is pretty general, safari browsing and social media mainly. Mail on manual updates and background app refresh OFF.

I believe that with the new iPhone model being sold this is just an unfortunate case of older models being pushed out of functionality.

I highly recommend the ‘best’ result today is to have a portable battery pack with you at all times. I’m sorry so many of us have been hit by this update.

Hopefully Apple will resolve it soon.
