Thanks! This worked for me. Stopping the process through the activity monitor as others have suggested didn't seem to work at all -- seemed like the mac just restarted the Spotlight and SystemUIServer processes.
What happens if you click OK? Try going to Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor and kill the Spotlight process.
killall Spotlight
in terminal, and after press Update again.
Dear Eric,
Must I restart or re-activate the Spotlight after killing it (as you suggested) and updating Safari?
What happens after I've killed it?
Thank you in advance!
Thanks for this suggestion. Can you explain how to "kill the Spotlight process"?
This totally worked. Thanks.
Worked great thanks
Thanks. Worked like a charm. Guess that fix will be in next update.
You are welcome to you and Guitarhurricane.
Many thanks. Solved it.
You are welcome. You don't need to restart the computer or reactivate it after killing it. It will restart on its own.
You are welcome.
Great, it WORKS! Thanks XpoNu4
Thanks, Eric, this worked for me too. Had a bit of trouble locating spotlight in activity monitor as it keeps jumping around. however, persisted and as I said it worked so many thanks.
