unable to update safari 12.2 get message “Safari.app” cannot be updated because its extensions are in use by “Spotlight.app”. Click OK and quit the application.

Go to Activity Monitor, select the Spotlight process, and click the X at the top left.

sadly the X was not highlighted - i was unable to unblock it / turn it off

so still have same problem 🙂
