No one is being rude or arrogant. We are just trying to explain facts. Unless you have a device paired continuously via Bluetooth, it's just not possible the Bluetooth radio is draining your battery. That's not rude or arrogant. It's fact. If your battery drains significantly simply because Bluetooth is on in settings, your phone is defective and it should be taken to the Apple Store Genius Bar.
Good for you. Apple has been taking us slowly down the path that there is very little reason to ever turn off Wifi or Bluetooth. The radio that truly eats up power is the cellular radio. If you turned off Cellular, left Wifi and Bluetooth on, but didn't connect to any devices or networks and you left the phone on, the battery would last for literally weeks, maybe longer.
Hi. I have just upgraded to ios12 today and have had no end of trouble using the phone function. Callers told me that I kept dropping out and back in. Then I realised that the BT Icon was not showing but BT was ON. The cause of the fault with my speaker and microphone is that I have my partners hearing aids connected and because BT was always ON, the phone was trying to communicate with the hearing device every time it got close.
This need not be a problem except that I use the swipe-up function to turn BT on and off. This feature appears to work as it tells me that BT will be turned on again tomorrow - the usual response. However, BT is not disabled and the hearing aids still try to take over when ever in range. I have to go to Settings to turn it off.
I would like to see both the swipe up feasture fixed sand the icon returned as it gave a positive visual status of BT. Just like the Airplane mode and others that are unobtrusive and useful.
It was two years ago that you could turn off Bluetooth from the control panel. Apple changed the function of the Control Panel Bluetooth (and Wi-Fi) button to do something much more useful, to disconnect currently connected devices while leaving Bluetooth still on. Apple still left FOUR ways to turn Bluetooth on or off (down from five), which is enough for most people:
The last 3 of these are even faster than opening the control panel, tapping a button, and closing the control panel. The first one is about the same number of motions as opening the control panel, tapping a button, and closing the control panel.
Why do you have to check the status of your Bluetooth? If you turn it on, it's on. If you turn it off, it's off. You mean you can't remember whether you turned it on or off? It never changes status on its own. Besides, why would you ever turn it off? My Bluetooth has been on for over 10 years on every computer, tablet and phone I have ever used.
That's correct. The 24 hour turn off appeared in iOS 11. Apple is trying to train us to never turn off Bluetooth. For the vast majority, there really is no reason to ever turn Bluetooth off.
And not only that, it's just an excuse to capture Bluetooth data packets publicly or privately - without the user's awareness that Bluetooth has been switched on. I don't appreciate it.

How is redundan? Is there another visual clue that tells me a device is connected?
Yes, in either Control Center or in Settings > Bluetooth
