iOS 12 update glitch

I updated my iPad 9!7 to the new OS version 12.

Can’t say I’m crazy about it but there are two things that really have me puzzled.

Swiping up from the bottom of the home screen does not bring up my open apps now. Nothing happens at all.

And my keyboards are acting very erratically.

Actually I wish I had not updated at all but don’t know how to restore the previous 11.4 version.

Goes without saying that my iPad pro 12,9 and my iPhone are keeping the old version.

If anyone has a fix for my problem, I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Like welafever said, reset all settings and content is all I can think of. Make sure you have a good backup before you factory reset it. The best time to upgrade my device is when they have ironed out most of the bugs. Early adopters are brave souls who volunteer to be Apple's guinea pigs. I just upgraded from 10 to 11 a few days ago. My upgrade from 9 to 10 and 11 are all one shot and problem free. They're all done right before a major iOS release becomes available. Won't be allowing 12 until at least summer next year.
