Voice memos is not saved after i done recording

Hello, i've been searching for this problem but i didn't find any solutions. There are only an unanswered one.

So, i have an iphone x with the new ios 12 installed on it last night. This morning i had an interview class with my lecturer about my thesis. To make it easier for me to takes on every word he says, i choose to record it on the voice memos. I already test it first and it records. After that i pressed the red button and begin recording session, it did shows the recording process with the sound graph or something like that (sorry i didn't know how to called it). After like 57 minutes i done my interview, when i pressed the done button it just bring me to the voice memos and it didn't show the recording i just made. But, when i try to search on the home screen (that one when u swipe to the right and type on the search box) it shows my last already made recording with the correct voice memos names but it didn't show up on the voice memos apps. How can i recover that lost voice memos when i can still search the correct name and it still shows up the memos ?

I try to describe as specific as possible, because i hope i can recover that voice memos because it is really a very very important one. I made this communities support account just for this just to let you know.

Just wanted to let everyone that the by downloading imazing to my PC I was able to retrieve my lost voice memo file. In imazing I went to file systems and then media recordings. I found a folder with the date and time that matched when I made the recording. Clicked on it and there I found the missing voice memo. Clicked on it and it played! So from the imazing program I saved it to my PC and then transferred it to my itunes and put it in a playlist. Then I sync'd the playlist to my phone and can now hear the memo on my phone through the playlist. Crisis averted! Thanks to whoever suggested this work around.

Background

So I recorded a 52 minute long voice memo yesterday in class. Very important recording because I need it to complete my final exam. I periodically checked while I was in the class to make sure that it was still recording, which each time it was. When I wanted to end the recording there was no stop, end, or done button. So I closed down the app and returned to it. It brought me back to the recording and this time a done button appeared. I hit done. When I went to go find the recording to listen to it, it was nowhere to be found in the voice memo. I searched it on my phone and I could see the 52 min voice memo I had just recorded. I clicked on it and it took me back to voice memo but it did not show up there or in the deleted files. I contacted apple support. They could not resolve the problem. All they said is that this was a known issue that they are still investigating and to be sure to just update my iOS anytime there is an update. Thankfully the imazing suggestion worked. I have an iPhone XS and I am and was running iOS 12.1 when this problem occurred.

And for the update -

Unfortunately the recovery options available did not work. The fragments and container files all showed the proper date but did not contain any usable files. Other dates did contain working files but were already saved and working. The date I needed showed only a tiny unreadable file- far too small to possibly have any usable audio. It's a shame - I was really hopeful.

As for the new recorder app updates from Apple - it does not seem to be losing files.. but the naming issue does still happen. I'll make a new recording - finish it and then name it. I'll record a few more, click on old ones etc and then close the app. Every so often the next time I create a new recording a previous recording - usually the most recent- will be back to 'New recording #' ! FYI APPLE, IT'S NOT FIXED.

I might start with a fresh install of iOS or if I decide to stay with iPhone I won't import my old phone files as an image through icloud or itunes backup to see if perhaps the issue has been from the 3GS - 5 - 6Splus- 7 but back in the old days I had none of these issues. Enough of this rant for now. Dead end. Thanks for all the info. Good luck.

It has been a year since you posted the problem on an unsaved voice memos. I am using the voice memos of my iPhone SE with iOS12.3.1 during my interview in one of the remote places in the Philippines, then my iPhone Xs Max for taking photos, whenI realized the interview was not saved. This was for my masteral thesis. I can't believe the 1 hour and 20 mins interview was gone just like that. But how come the afternoon interview (28mins) was saved? Hope Apple will address the issue and the "inconvenience" it caused to my research. Travelling again to Mindoro and setting appointment with the indigenous peoples there called the Mangyans will require time and money.
