mac osx 10.7.5

Hi, Can anyone help please?

Im trying to access a website and i keep getting this message, everything else seems to be ok.

The client and server don't support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite. This is likely to be caused when the server needs RC4, which is no longer considered secure.

i mac, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

It’s 2006. I’m very attached to it. Also, I’m an artist, it’s great for images, I’m going to struggle to upgrade. That’s why I’m trying to work with what I’ve got. Thank you for all your help and you are right, it’s just too old.

I totally understand being attached to it, however you will be seeing more and more limitations to owning it. Considering it's 12 and now almost 13 years old it's quite ancient by technology standards. If you have been backing it up using Time Machine or creating a bootable clone, migrating to a new Mac is very simple.

However that being said, your work applications may also be so old they will need to be upgraded too. When considering upgrading to a new computer and version of Mac OS these are factors to take into account. For example if you use a version of Photoshop that runs on 10.7.5, I can tell you it will not run on 10.13.6 (current version of Mac OS). This means you have to upgrade that application. Unfortunately when you stay stuck in time (using a 2006 computer and possibly 2006 apps) it can get expensive to get current. Staying current over time (both Mac OS and your apps) is a less painful approach.

Best of luck.

If your computer has the ability to run later versions of Mac OS you should upgrade Mac OS. What year is your computer? If you don't know, you can find this out from the About this Mac information I mentioned above. It is possible that your computer may not be able to go beyond the version of Mac OS you have installed due to hardware limitations. In that case your best option is to consider upgrading to a new iMac or other device if this web site is that important.

It is best to migrate when you turn on a new Mac for the first time. Simple connect the old Mac's Time Machine backup drive or Bootable Clone backup drive to the new machine via a USB cable. The Setup Assistant will eventually get to a point where it asks if you are migrating from another Mac, select yes, follow the on-screen prompts and it will begin migrating.

Are you using 10.7.5 on your iMac, if you are not sure please click the Apple symbol in the upper left corner of the display, select About This Mac and it will tell you the version of Mac OS installed.

If you are using 10.7.5, please advise the website address so we can check. It is possible your system is so outdated that the site will not work with the version of Mac O S installed on the computer.
