Workflow -> Shortcuts Apple Watch app

Is this gone now? Has Apple said anything about it coming back? I was fond of using the Watch app for quick entry health data updates (weight, water intake, etc.)

Thank you, but I understand that, and my Workflow processes transferred over to Shortcuts without issue. I am specifically wondering about the Apple Watch app, as it doesn't seem to be available anymore, and the Workflow app is also no longer available, so I can't revert back.

My previous process was to enter health data via Apple Watch. My current process requires that I enter data via my iPhone.

While that seems really helpful, it’s still not the same thing. I had workflows that I could run on my watch that took simple user input (typing in numbers, selecting menu options, etc.). The interaction was solely on the watch. How is that functionality replicated on the watch with the new app? I’m talking about more than just triggering the workflow.

Or, if that functionality is lost, how can I get the old workflows app back on my phone and watch?

@Joseph_S. Do even understand what you're talking about? This is not about using voice for calling shortcuts via Siri, it is about calling shortcuts from Apple Watch via button. Apple literally DESTROYED my whole home automation setup on my Apple Watch by removing Workflows app and literally providing NO ALTERNATIVE for calling 'shortcuts' by a tap form apple watch. I can't understand how such a big corporation can make such big mistakes. As salm2099 said, this is a huge step back in functionality and that makes me very angry

I, too, am EXTREMELY disappointed that Apple has eliminated Shortcuts/Workflow from the watch as a native app. I used it all the time and it worked great. The watch Series 4 is so good that I often leave my iPhone at home. But Shortcuts only work if you have the phone with you.

I have to assume (pray) that Apple did this because the native watch app wasn't yet working perfectly with all the other changes they implemented.

But, PLEASE, Apple, restore it as a native WATCH app!

Hey salm2099,

Thanks for following up and clarifying your concern. While the Workflow app is no longer available on the Apple Watch, you can still utilize the shortcuts on your Apple Watch. You mentioned that you used to enter health data via the Apple Watch, but now you use the iPhone.

Here's a way to still do this on the Apple Watch. Create a shortcut and add it to Siri using the iPhone. More info here: Use Siri Shortcuts - Apple Support

Make sure that you're signed in to the same Apple ID on both devices, and then you can use Siri to activate this shortcut on the Apple Watch.

It looks like you have an Apple Watch Series 3. If that's the case, you can also use "Raise to Speak" on the Apple Watch to activate the shortcut without saying "Hey Siri" first: Use Siri on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Let us know if that helps out!

@MoonJ. @Joseph_S.

I totally echo salm2099 and tweeted about this the day the updates came out. It would be one thing when triggering a shortcut via Siri that it would continue w/ me entering information on my Apple Watch, but that fact that I have to then go to my iPhone is an unnecessary second step.

For example, I used Workflow on Apple Watch to quickly calculate tips. Now Shortcuts prompts me to complete the data entry on my iPhone. This is absolutely a step back.

Yes. Your Apple Watch first generation is now useless. Not unlike Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia to chase a good app's user $$$; Apple has taken a great product, Workflows and made it less attractive and now with less features. Sure you get buggy Siri integration that *still* requires you to click "Run ...", now you also don't get double tap to run a task quickly either. SLOWER than ever!

Those watch complications you had? DELETED.

Thanks Apple for removing data, access to data, and killing the last shred of functionality that made your watch gimmick... er, "gadget" worth while. 😟😟😟

I used to be able to just take my watch and go for a run, open/close the garage door, or pull up specific data, news, and status info from my watch. Get security camera shots to check if a package arrived. Nope. Not anymore!

But it has got a nice shiny Apple logo on it... so there is that.

I was using the Workflow app directly from my watch multiple times a day to enter my daily intakes (ex: Caffeine/Cappucino/8oz...), or logging my location.

Without need for the phone at all.

The fact the app was converted to Shortcuts on the phone is fine, the fact it is integrated in Siri is fine too, but having removed the app from the watch is a huge regression.

To be honest that was the only app I was regularly using on the watch, always accessible with multi-task button. Now I don't see much interest in wearing the watch :-(

I truly hope that was a glitch and the app will come back.

Hello Joseph,

removing the complication from the watch and using Siri instead is definitely not an option.

Removing it from the watch without any hint to the user isn't a thing I expected from Apple.

If that would have been notified in the first place I would have never ever updated the app.

There is obviously a demand from the community to bring it back - so please bring it back to the watch.

Buying an entire Firm because they've build an awesome app and then crippling it is something we already know from Facebook. Please don't head in the same direction and keep on listening to your customers.

No offense

Best regards M.G.
