Unable to Connect to School Wifi MacBook Pro

My friend has a MacBook Pro and is trying to log onto the school wifi. It is a wifi without a password, but you have to log in on a pop up safari page with your school log in (as many schools have). She is able to see the log in page and log in successfully, however she is unable to connect to the wifi. She is able to log in at school on her android phone. The log in works form me on my iPhone and windows laptop as well. It does not seem to be a network problem, however the tech guys at our school don't know Apple products. She can connect to her wifi at her house. I'm wondering if it's a setting that is blocking the access but any online help we found doesn't work. How do we connect her to the internet?
