My settings says Wi-Fi and our Wi-Fi has a lock and a Wi-Fi icon and a circle with i inside....keeps going off Wi-Fi every 3 mins

My Wi-Fi keeps dropping of every 3 minutes or so why? shows a padlock a Wi-Fi icon and a circle with an i in centre what does that mean?...I have to go and choose a network millions of times.

Thanks, my wifi on my 8 has been dropping as well. My computer, iPad and 6s (not updated yet) are fine. I do a speed test and download shoots up to 16.7 then slowly craps out to settle between 0-3, upload does the same usually settling somewhere around 1. 6s is fine and caps out on both around 13-16.

Restarted phone - no change

Restarted the router - no change

forget this network - no change

renew lease - no change

stood near router - no change

Did the Settings/general/Reset - reset network settings. Phone restarted. Tested speed and it was a steady 14.9 for both upload and download.

Thanks for the help

You know, my phone carrier sent me a telephone CellSpot because I cannot access wifi at home. I swore it was Comcast but there tests show there is sufficient output for the modem and my wifi. Sometimes, if you try to access wifi late at night there is a problem with the upgrades being performed. For me, the solution was to turn off the computer, turn on and off the modem, and most times that resolves it.

Please can you stop blaming the router and address the issue.

My iPad Air2 stopped using my WiFi after the last update (13.2.3). However, it does connect (I can see it in the log) and does show it is connected in Settings but the icon is NOT showing on the iPad and I get 'no internet connection' when trying to connect.

My iPhone 11 WiFi connection works fine, so does my Win10 laptop, and Alexa

Yes, I have restarted the router a few times (but not reset) and followed other instructions in this thread (forget this connection etc)

Did you verify that you are not blocking the air pad2 with mac filtering on your router/modem? Also, try clicking the (i) next to your ssid on ipad2 and click "Forget this Network". Reconnect to your ssid and see if the problem persists. Also, if you have both 2.4 and 5Ghz, try connecting to the other spectrum. (If you're trying to connect to 5Ghz then connect to the 2.4Ghz).

I have multiple iPhone 8 and 8 plus, X and X-max in to organisation. After upgrade to IOS 13.3 or before upgrade All devices can connect to the organisations Wi-Fi and have all the access required. The problem is that after about 3 min, the connections seems to be dead or dropped. When you go to setting and Wi-Fi and you select the current Wi-Fi where you are connected, the connection come alive again and every thing work as expected, but agter 3 min or so, the same thing happen. And the same procedure put it back in action. Nothing wrong with router, Network or any other thing except the iPhone that does not stay connected.

This is a PUBLIC user-to-user forum that can be read by anyone in the world with an Internet connection, so it is not a good place to post any private information such as your name, phone number of email address. I’ve asked the Hosts to remove this sensitive information from your posts.

It would help us if you posted more information about what issues you are having.

What business does my wifi router have with my phone? Why do I have to mess with everyone's connection to fix iPhone mistakes? I don't expect to have problems like this. This phone cost me $1000. I might as well get an android that won't mess with me.

If your phone has a problem with all routers it is your phone. If it has a problem with one and only one router the problem is the router. Routers are computers, and like all computers need to be rebooted periodically.

One reason it might be the router is the Access Control feature that blocks any devices that are not registered in a table of allowed devices.

Another is the DHCP daemon app in the router has crashed and is not assigning IP addresses when devices connect. Devices that are already connected have IP addresses, but when a device has just connected it can’t get one. There’s a simple check for this. Go to Settings/Wi-Fi and tap on the i next to the network name. If the IP address begins 169.254 that means the phone asked for an address and didn’t get one. Or just reboot the router and if that fixes it that was the problem.

You may have paid $1000 for the phone, but you probably paid $100 for the router. Which is likely to be better designed?
