Safari 12 unable to see plugins

I have just updated to Safari 12 using a iMac running High Sierra, and Safari can now not see/load my plugins. I can't use time machine to revert back to Safari 11, as I get an error message saying “Safari” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by macOS." The plugin I need is adobe reader DC, so I can print PDF's labels from the web. Does anyone have a solution??. Thanks in advance!

Ok so here is the URL for the Firefox version that supports plugins.

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/mac/en-US/

Once downloaded you'll need to rename it - so you don't overwrite your existing newer versions of Firefox (if you have Firefox already installed then you need to lock it - get info > lock (in finder)

I also went into the preference and stopped it doing auto updated. I needed it for a HikVision security camera and it appear to work for that but not for my Dahua cameras so YMMV.

I am curious what modern browser you are using that still supports Netscape-style plugins? As I understand it, Safari 11.1.2 was literally the last major browser to support NPAPI, just a month after Firefox 52.9.0 ESR was depreciated. And while updates are offered and pushed by manufacturers all the time, in most cases you have the ability to reach about the changes (especially for major versions), and choose to avoid an update if you are concerned about ongoing support for your needs.

The plug in I need allows viewing of my security system. Now I use Google’s Chrome which does allow the plug in. Apple do still have a gigantic software problem. They were never good at it, but since they are a phone company now, allowing me to select a necessary plug in for the security of my home would be easy. They choose to follow a different path and make bad business decisions. I will be ditching Apple soon. 20 years on board. About to leave and never return. Won’t loose sleep.

Hello all...spent time with tech support and there appears to be a workaround for this. In Safari preferences, under the advanced tab...make sure "show develop menu in bar" is checked off. Then go to the develop tab and hover over the "user agent" ...at that point you can pick a previous version of Safari, if it is available. If not, you can "trick" the system-there will be versions of Safari for iOS. For example, mine shows "Safari-iOS 1.0-iPhone" as well as iOS 11 for iPad, and iPod touch. Click on one of them, and it should solve the problem. I haven't actually tried this yet. I didn't do the update on my iMac (which I am using right now), so I am still running 11.2.1. Unfortunately, I unknowingly did the update on my laptop. So...when I get home, I will need to try this. The tech agent assured me this would work. Apparently...tech is getting bombarded today. Appears there's a lot of unhappy people!!

What the heck was Apple thinking with this?? They just set themselves back 10 years in the business world. I mean, the only thing PC's ever had on Macs, at least in my opinion, was the fact that they had the largest business marketshare...which I know is still true, but, Apple has made HUGE strides in this area. I work for a company that has 10,000 people, and up until 5 years ago...they wouldn't allow Macs. I was using one anyway and finally helped them put a successful pilot program together...and now..we can have a Mac! This update puts me back 5 years...no Java, no Silverlight...absurd. Hopefully Apple pays attention to the backlash I believe they are going to get. Ok...rant over!

I have a similar plug-in as I need Java plug-in. Have spoken to apple, have given feedback to Safari, but don't know how to give feedback to Java. A HK colleague whose safari is still 11.1.2 and the latest Java 8 181 is able to run tkfweb.com. But don't know how to go back to safari previous version... Any ideas please? Thanks.
