How do I ger rid of something called Mac Mechanic? It appears it showed up when I updated Adobe Flash Player shortly after I thought I updated my operating system from 10.13.6 to Mojave but I didn't get Mojave.

Try removing it with Malwarebytes.

In the future only update Flash Player from Adobe's official site: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/about/.
Any popup requesting you update Flash usually have adware or malware included in the installer.
