How do I play a slideshow from the Photos app on Macbook Pro to Apple TV?

How do I create a slideshow using the Photos app on my Macbook and display it on my Appletv?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

First, create the slideshow using the steps provided in this help article: macOS High Sierra: Photos Help - Apple Support

Thank you for your answer, but that is not really how this should be working, right?

How is it possible that there is no way to either share Slideshows via AirPlay or why are slide shows not surfaced on the Apple TV Photos app. Either would be how this should work? I understand that it is possible to use this workaround, I actually ended up exporting the slide show as a video and playing that via AirPlay to the Apple TV, but this feels like a typical "Windows" way of making things work and neither is "obvious" in the slightest...
