There’s no Memoji icon/app showing up in the drawer?

i downloaded iOS 12 and there’s no Memoji icon showing up in the drawer in iMessages. how do I get it? Thanks!

That option requires an iPhone X or newer. Which model do you have?

I found out the answer just now, I have an 8 plus so that makes sense! I thought it was available for my model after iOS 12. Thank you for your reply.
