Disable ink level information with canon 2440 printer

Can we disable ink level information for this printer ,

so that it could print with one of the two cartridges full and the other empty ?

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12)

'We' can't, but ask Canon. My Pixma won't print either if just one cartridge is low!

Not 100% sure on Canon, but years of the same trouble with other brands tells me no. 😟
