just received my iPhone xs Max , and it seems that the front camera looks downgraded. It looks as if I’m taking selfies on my iPad mini Or on a filtered android. I compared the front camera with my 8plus and my sisters x, it just looks terrible.If anyone has the same problem that would be helpful thanks.
Having the same problem even after the 12.1 update! As a photographer I’m extremely unhappy and might return the phone to get the X. Not liking this smart hd and noise reduction effect.
Even if I’m in a very well lit area I’m still getting crap photos from the front/back camera. I can get great photos if i go outside for natural lightening but selfies are giving me this smoothing effect on the skin.
Has anyone gone in to an Apple Store and questioned this? Tempting to switch to a different phone or wait out any kinks.

Same thing here. It looks like I’m taking pics from an Android. My iPhone 8 Plus camera is wayyyyyyyy better than this
thank god, i couldn't find anything. Im hoping its just a software issue so i don't have to get it replaced. Im thinking that these max models of the xs aren't fully optimized for everything yet.
