How do I get zero sigh in to work

I have Charter Spectrum and I have upgraded to TVOS 12 but I don’t see that zero sign in is enabled or working.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Keep in mind that I do not currently subscribe to cable TV from Charter Spectrum, just broadband internet, so my understanding of this may be incomplete. Having said that I do not believe there is anything that needs to be "enabled" for zero sign-on to work. According to this article https://www.macrumors.com/2018/09/17/apple-releases-tvos-12/:

With zero sign-on, the Apple TV can detect a user's broadband network and automatically sign them into supported apps they receive through an accompanying cable subscription.

It sounds like it will just be automatic. But, remember, the apps also have to support the feature. On my Apple TV, the only app I have that appears to support zero sign-in is ESPN.

If I sign out of my TV Provider and launch ESPN I can see "Spectrum" as the provider in the app, rather than DirecTV. I can even watch the main ESPN stream.

So, sign out of any configured TV providers and see which apps you can use. Remember, though, you must have the channel in your cable package to be able to access the content in that app.
