iPhone Xs Max ‘full’ screen

The iPhone Xs max comes with the new and improved ‘full screen’ except for that small annoying 1/4 x 1 1/2 inch black rectangle at the top where the camera and ear piece are. Try to watch a video or play a detailed video game and see how irritating that blacked out area really is. I could not add a friend or see 3 buttons while playing PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battle Ground’s). I was really excited for this phone and like the quality of photos it takes. I was even more excited to see the video game graphics... much to my dismay... that small segment of the screen is important to some people.

I guess my my question is: there used to be an area to make recommendations to Apple. Where did that go? Perhaps they got overrun. Dear Apple. I like the full screen, but please get rid of the black rectangle.

That is all.

Hi TheRedLadle,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities and sharing your experience with the iPhone XS Max so far.

You can find the area to provide product feedback here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Since it looks like the interface of a specific app (PUBG) isn't working as it should on this specific device, you may also want to notify the app developer about the issue: How to contact an app developer

Cheers!

With YouTube there will be black bars to the right and left of the video. This is because (a) the video content is 16:9 and the iPhone Xs Max screen is approx. 19.5:9 ratio, and (b) YouTube does not (currently) provide a way to zoom in on video (i.e. fill out the width of the screen, but crop the top and bottom of the video). The iOS TV app does support (b) for video content.
