Can you get scratches out of gold iPhone X S stainless steel

So i just got the new iPhone in gold and it looks beautiful but I’m wondering if later down the road when the stainless steel band gets some scratches on it can i buff it out and still have the gold color or is the paint too thin and will i just leave silver blotches all over the phone
