share family apple music subscription but keep idividual icloud storage and purchases

Hi. Just signed ups for family subscription to Apple Music. So far added one member waiting for another to accept. I have done this for kids at Uni who can no longer afford it themselves! I would like to know how to allow then the usually access to Apple Music without changing their purchase details and iCloud storage plans they both have. We do not want to share each others music etc!

Apple Music will be individual iCloud Music Libraries, tied to each Apple ID. With the subscription, you will not be bothered by each other’s music.

Family Sharing will have the consequence that all purchases of the family group will be billed through the Organizer, so you will have to make good agreements on that.

The music in the iCloud Music Library is not counted against any iCloud storage plan. Backups and other files however would be in any optional shared iCloud storage plan, though private and only for the user. Meaning the storage availability (beyond the standard 5 GB) is shared in the family group, but not the content itself (unless they choose to share).

So if I turn family sharing off will others still be able to use the family subscription to Apple Music?

Apple Music Family subscription requires Family Sharing. People can’t join the the family subscription without it. If you turn off Family Sharing, then I suppose all members lose their family sharing privileges and family subscriptions.

On my Mac it clearly states that Apple Music will share the owners iCloud storage?

If you have a subscription of additional iCloud Storage, then that storage capacity will also be shared with the family, when using Family Sharing. Can you screenshot the exact message, and post it here?
