I just got my new iPhone XS and I am having problems with my front facing camera taking blurry pictures or pictures looking like having filters on. Does anyone have the same problem? I compared the camera with a iPhone 7 and a iPhone X and both phones makes the XS look like ****.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

If you have a case or screen protector make sure they are both removed. Make sure there are no fingerprints in the notch area.

If you still have problems after that you may want to have your device evaluated at an Apple Store.
I am having the same issue as you, and apparently others are as well. I found a thread on reddit of people having the same blurry/muddy/smoothed picture results with the front facing camera. I would suggest reporting the issue to apple through feedback. Hopefully it’s something they can fix with a software update.
Same here I just bought my iPhone X’s and I was going through the camera and I notice that it looks blurry as if I was using a android! I thought it was just me and send the pictures to my cousins to get a second opinion, they have iPhones and they said the same that it looks like I took from a android, blurry! APPLE WHATS GOING ON!!
It is like somebody telling you to be happy with your camera taking ugly photos as they are so advanced so you should love them despite they are just plain ugly.
I have purchased XSmax256 and well I thought something is wrong with mine as comparing to X photos were artificial, people looks dead, strange skin colour, no shiny eyes, all looks dead, exposure is amplified, colours are just warm terrible, GENERAL UNREALISTIC. So I thought well maybe mine is just broken. Returned that one and purchased once again another sample. Looks the same. See samples attached. it is indeed like in old android phones, just plain terrible.

The front facing selfie camera hardware is worse in low-light than the back facing camera. The selfie cam has a tiny, pinkie-fingernail sized sensor, which means it takes in less light, which in turn means more noise, and thus more noise reduction.
The result is a smoother image, which with the new Smart HDR and computational-photography-heavy pipeline smoothens out the image a bit more than in the past.
The tradeoff is that selfies, which traditionally are worse in mixed or harsh lighting (the majority of lighting!) are now no longer blown out, and in most cases it just looks better, if just a little on the smooth side.

Apple should be looking at all of these following a new product release such as the iPhone XS and XS Max.
Have no case or screen protector, I think I may have to go to an Apple Store tomorrow to have it checked out. Thank you for helping anyways.
I’m on my second iPhone max as the first crashed on everything. Now the front camera is freezing and this is affecting Face ID. It’s so rubbish for such an expensive phone. Really frustrated.
Have it replaced again; these things happen with any manufactured device.
Then I guess your best bet is to return it for a refund and purchase something else.

I have the exact same thing, but I don’t have a screen protect on or anything. My phone is clean, it is obviously the camera.
