On iphone: airdrop an mp3 into my itunes?

The other day I wanted to receive an mp3 of my friends band from an iMac to my iphone via airdrop and then put it into my phone's itunes so I could listen to it. But we couldn't figure it out. I could airdrop-save on to my iphone's GarageBand or iMovie, but itunes was not an option for saving the mp3 file? What am I doing wrong?
