iPhone XS Max lightning port charging issue

So Just got my new iphone. and noticed this issue I've been having. I connect the lightning cable to my phone to charge and most of the time it’s automatically charges. However I’ve noticed several times plugging the phone in and no charge comes up. Tried unplugging and plugging back in, sometimes it’ll work. I started to test it out. And I noticed the times I plugged it in, and I get no charge, I‘d leave the phone alone for 10-15 seconds. I pick it up, the screen illuminarea and then the charging symbol pops up. ive Tested these only with apple cables. So I’m thinking it’s either a port issue or possibly software. Any ideas or recommendations ?

thanks.

When I contacted Apple-support, they said it was not an iOS issue but a sw issue that occurred when I set up an iPhone from an existing iPhone or a backup. Therefore there is no need for a bug fix of the iOS. Also they said it was not isolated to the new iPhone XS Max phones. The charging issue should therefore be fixed when I did a factory reset.

I have the same problem. I've done everything that I could software wise like restarting the phone, resetting all of the phone's settings, and going further to restore the phone completely via iTunes, both with a backup and not. It's really annoying. I'm taking mine to an Apple Store.

A user named kanshu on the MacRumors forums suggested turning on the USB Accessories (Allow access when locked) toggle under Face ID & Passcode in Settings. I enabled it and so far, it seems to be working but I'm not too certain.

This discussion was featured in a new video from UnboxTherapy. He tests multiple XS and XS Max models and the issue reproduces to some extent on almost all of them. Here’s hope that this will facilitate a response from Apple. I appreciate those who made the effort to replace their phones only to see the issue pop up again. https://youtu.be/J_lRJuQtBmc

This is not just an iPhone X issue. My iPhone 7 plus exhibits the exact same behavior. It started right after the last OS software update, so it must be a software issue. Lets hope the fix it in the next update!

I realized this morning the recharge problems on my iphone xs max 512 gb space gray, I went to an apple store and they replaced my iphone, but the problem came back! Speaking with the operators of the apple store did not even know the existence of the problem! absurd! are there any solutions to this problem or are we waiting for a solution from apple?

I solved by turning off the USB accessories option! I really hope it's not a hardware problem! But at this point I think it's a software problem, considering that the problem was also found on iphone 10. do you know if there are updates about the problem?

the thing that makes me angry and that apple should (in theory) officially communicate this problem, at least inform users! god bless the youtube channels, watching a video I realized the problem! as I said earlier in my trusted apple store no shop assistant knew nothing!

anyway I think that apple will not be out soon with an update of ios! definitely! in call center Italian apple Italy, he told me that the engineers are working there! what do they have to build a bridge ???? hahaha
