I am seeking to add this device to my iCloud account so that I can add/sync new music. How do I accomplish this task?

An iPod nano can't use the iCloud Music Library or any content from an Apple Music subscription. Drag or sync other song files to it from iTunes on a computer.

Both iCloud and Apple Music were developed after the iPod nano was created. As new ideas develop, it sometimes means that they cannot be used on older technology. If new ideas were restricted to whether they work on every older device, there would never be any new developments.
Thank you for your reply. A rhetorical question-what is the point of Apple Music if we cannot use it on all apple devices?
