No internet connectivity after installing Mojave

I have just upgraded to Mojave through the app store from Seirra. It took for ever at the log in screen and then finally the WIFI is greyed out with a X and when you open a browser there is not connectivity. Late 2017 iMac

I am not running little snitch, it takes for ever to restart too.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

iMac, iOS 12

I solved the problem by doing a clean install of Mojave, and once the installation was finished I used Migration Assistant to migrate my applications, my settings, and my user folder—but NOT the “other files and folders”. Once I restarted, the problem was fixed. This solved both the internet problem and the slow login.

I don’t understand why people are saying to make sure WiFi is connected. The exact issue is that WiFi IS connected, but almost everything on my 2016 27” iMac will not connect. I say almost everything, bc safari won’t work, it won’t connect to Apple store for updates, it won’t even pull up my email. BUT, I’m having no issues browsing the internet with Chrome, on the same computer that won’t connect through safari, Apple mail or Apple store. I can log into my web mail, pull up documents and download them, all through Chrome. But any Apple application is useless. 👍 dev team!

These “solutions” being posted are not for this issue. If people actually paid attention to the issue, you’d understand that the WiFi connection is actually showing a good signal. It’s the fact that certain apps are not actually connecting to that WiFi signal.

How in the world does Apple have a device that will not work unless I use a Google application?? Hahaha, it’s absolutely hilarious that they release a beta, just to have the final release with these same issues. They knew the internet connection wasn’t working properly back in June.

This should be no surprise to anyone though. They still haven’t fixed the blackout issue on the iPhone. It’s been going on since the 6+. It’s sad that Apple has employees now that truly do not care. The company used to be good at fixing issues prior to final release. But now, it’s trash.

To make it clear

1. This is not a wifi issue. It is an internet connectivity issue.

2. The system is able to connect to a device or router and obtain a dhcp address. I know this because I just connected to both my ipad as a hotspot and to my router with a new manual dhcp address

I it doesnt matter. Because you cant make a connection internally or externally after that. For example, even though I recieved a new dhcp address, I cannot use a browser to open the router.

I can ping the router and the outside world. In face once a ping starts I need to close Terminal to stop it.

(apple also needs to update its Terminal help - it still refers to emacs)

The same happened with High Sierra.

I don’t think they know what they have broken, mores the pity.

I installed on two 12 inch MacBooks and one 15 inch MacBook Pro one each ok but second 12 macbook I have same issue and finder is also very flakey lots of colored wheel spin ups when i try to look at network settings play with wifi in menu and also reset the pram and smc. I guess I am hosed and I cannot see or get back to my backup HD to just restore to High Sierra my wifes 12 inch is hosed for now no wifi

I could not use the apple suggestions the install seems hosed almost finder, running apps all are slow, constant spinning color beach ball so can hardly use the mac with the Mojave install to even test things. I am just going back to last high sierra and not touching my wife’s machine any longer LOL it works for her minimal needs and ipad and iphone are more her primary uses. But she has photos and some logins to her job scheduling that need the macbook. I cannot risk her machine any longer for updates at least my time machine backup is reinstalling

I have a similar, and probably related, issue on my iMac and my Mac Mini. After a random amount of time, all network connectivity is lost, I use Ethernet rather than wlan. The network is still connected, but it's not possible to connect to anything, either internally or over the internet. It is as if the network has been disabled. If I mouse over to the network settings in the menu, or open system settings and goto network, i get the spinning beachball of death. The only fix is a complete reboot.

Very frustrating.

This is not just an issue with WIFI. I can not get any connection through Ethernet. Mojave has been a disaster! Since 10.13.6, there have been email password outages and other problems. Then the move to Mojave is a nightmare. Sometimes it doesn't load, sometimes it loads and I can't get online, and if I get online I keep getting messages that my passwords are not correct. It seems like Apple made an early Beta available to rush it out for holiday computer sales. I've been in front of Apple computers since my llc in 1986. This one is a major problem. I was on the phone with Apple for two hours last week. They even accessed my screen and couldn't figure it out. I am stuck using 10.13.3 and it works fine, but I can not access my new and expensive iPhone XS Max!
