Books Library Missing! iCloud Drive Books Sync Troubleshooting

Dear Apple Community:

I recently started using iCloud Drive and Books syncing across devices (Mac, iPad Pro, iPhone).

I regret to say my MacBook Pro's Books library is missing. When I open the app, no books appear. Although collections, including any new ones I create, still appear in the lefthand sidebar--just with nothing in them!

On my iOS devices (iPad Pro and iPhone) the Books library is still intact. Collections complete with all of the books and PDFs in them, and highlights and edits, sync across those two devices. But I can't get it to sync onto my Mac.

Pleaase help me resolve this...my Books library is very important to me!

Can I somehow force my Mac to download the Books library from the Cloud?

Perhaps it's obvious, but have you enabled the "Books" toggle in System Preferences –> iCloud -> iCloud Drive -> Options? I had this problem after updating to Mojave and it turned out that Books syncing on the Mac is now hidden in iCloud Drive options (wheras on iOS it's a separate setting). So you have to enable iCloud Drive, then go into its options and specifically enable Books.

Thanks. That was my issue. You’d think that the iCloud sync setting would also be replicated in Preferences of the Books app on the Mac (as it is in, say, the Mac Messages app), or that it would be turned on by default.

Thanks for your response...to update you, unfortunately, I'm the unlucky one for whom this did not work.

I've since contacted Apple Support and have had them run a config/profile thing that collects data on my Mac to see what's going on. Hopefully it will be fixed without losing my data!

In case anyone else is in the same boat and is reading, I'll try to keep you posted when they find a fix!
