Why is Apple requesting such personal information?

In trying to change my iCloud storage, Apple is requesting photos of myself with Visa card and personal ID. Is this valid and legal? Where is this information stored and how secure is it?

Its a scam, and obviously not from Apple.

To manage your iCloud Storage if any is actually purchased, you do so from the devices themselves, not through a website.

You can follow the steps here to verify than no actual storage has been purchased on your account:

Downgrade your iCloud storage - Apple Support

Changing your password was necessary as you gave it to the scammers. The card should also be cancelled yes.

As a rule of thumb, no real self respecting business or organization will ever ask you to take a picture of yourself with your credit card or your ID for any reason whatsoever. And even less so to cancel a purchase or subscription.

All real and trustworthy online business always have direct ways of cancelling subscriptions via your account with them directly.

I was requested to take a picture with my Visa card which I did. And then Requested to take a pic with my ID... that’s when I stopped and did not do that. I got out of the site. I did have to use my Apple ID and password to get in.

I spoke with someone at Apple this morning and I have changed my password. She said I need to cancel my visa. So frustrating!!
